Rubber pavers is a good alternative for play and sports areas: being sturdier than safety tiles, interlocking rubber pavers are needed on areas accessible by vehicles, such as play streets, courtyards and pedestrian areas.
Rubber pavers by WARCO have the same shape as traditional concrete pavers and actually can be used in combination with them. Unlike concrete pavers, however, rubber pavers provide a resilient flooring on which children can safely play. Continue reading

Impact protection (also called fall protection) is a crucial property of playground safety tiles. It should be the main factor when choosing safety floor for any play area.
Neither grass nor sand provide impact protection, not to mention bare, trodden ground. That such a play area is a great hazard to the safety of children, is stating the obvious. According to the EU playground safety norm (EN 1177), playground surface should provide appropriate impact protection (fall attenuation). It is can be easily attained by installing impact protection tiles. Continue reading
Amateur football pitch paved with permanently elastic rubber flooring lasts for decades and saves you time and money on the maintenance.
As much as the kids would love to kick the ball, the weather in our climate is not too generous for them. Grass football fields way too often turn into muddy ground, unless carefully maintained, which is expensive and time-consuming. Continue reading
Unfortunately, most children’s injuries happen at home, supposedly the safest place for a kid to be. Follow these guidelines to make sure your backyard is a safe environment for them! Continue reading
Protective mats under climbing walls is a basic safety requirement which reduces the risk of injuries when landing or jumping onto the ground. Safety mats is the most efficient fall protection system for indoor and outdoor climbing walls.
Safety mats obviously won’t replace other safety measures required especially for professional climbing or bouldering walls. Without them, though, successful climbing might end in pain and injury. Continue reading

Your kindergarten playground or schoolyard can look as modern and safe as this kindergarten outdoor area in Luxembourg, renovated with WARCO safety tiles.
Safety should be a priority at an outdoor or indoor play area at kindergarten. The flooring should absorb the impact of a possible fall from the highest point of playground equipment (critical fall height). Moreover, it should make a soft landing for kids and a pleasant playing area for toddlers. Continue reading

Rubber safety tiles are the ideal flooring for a sports ground, for example an amateur football field or basketball court. With sports floor tiles you can build a great recreation ground in your neighbourhood on a tight budget.
Playing football in mud is hardly a pleasure, or basketball on a concrete court which is dry only in the summer. Kids want to play all year round, no matter if it rained or snowed. Let them have a professional, non-slip sports ground, which will be always dry and ready to use. Continue reading
When considering rubber flooring for your playground, sports ground or terrace, usually one has to choose between tiles with profiled or non-profiled edges. One thing is sure: for above-mentioned areas, it is always better to choose a profiled tile.
Both connection systems, the interlocking zip and the tongue and groove are advantageous. Not only do they help with the installation but, more importantly, reduce problems such as tile shifting, shrinking, cupping, or open joints. Non-profiled rubber tiles belonging to FS series are cheaper but even careful installation with edging and glueing won’t completely eliminate these problems. Continue reading
Critical fall heights for Warco safety tiles
Critical fall height is the maximal height from which a child might fall on the playground. See below which safety tile you should choose for your play area.
|Max. fall height||Suitable safety tile|
|110 cm||NF30 or TZ30 (30 mm thick)|
|110 cm||FS30 (35 mm thick)|
|150 cm||NF40 or TZ40 (40 mm thick)|
|170 cm||FS50 (50 mm thick)|
|240 cm||FS80 (80 mm thick)|
|300 cm||FS10 (100 mm thick)|
These numbers apply to the safety tiles made of polyurethane-bonded rubber granulate by German manufacturer WARCO. Certified critical fall heights depend not only on the tile thickness but also on the granulate type, connection and underside profile, hence different values for apparently similar tiles.
